1: To a large dutch oven or heavy bottom pot over medium heat, add in butter. 2: Once your butter is melted down, add in half of the onions, salt and sugar. 3: Keep your heat at medium and stir your onions every 2 minutes. 4: Once your onions start to soften add the other half of the onions. Continue to stir every 2 minutes. 5: This process will take 30-45 minutes to complete, until onions develop a rich color. 6: Every time you stir the onions, scrape the bottom of the pan to remove the fond. 7: Once you have reached your desired caramelization add in your flour and cook for 2 minutes. 8: Next add in red wine, Worcestershire sauce and broth. Let this cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour. 9: Lastly, add in the Better Than Bouillon Sautéed Onion Base and let that simmer for another 10 minutes. 10: Add soup to crocks and top with sliced baguettes, provolone and gruyere cheese. 11: Bake under a low broiler until golden and bubbly. Let it cool for a minute before enjoying.
