Instructions
1: Heat a medium size skillet to medium. Add a couple tablespoons of neutral oil. 2: Saute half of the onions until translucent, then add in half of the garlic for another 30 seconds until fragrant. 3: Remove from heat and let cool before adding to the meat mixture. 4: In a medium sized bowl, combine sausage, ground beef, cooled onions and garlic, eggs, parmesan, bread crumbs, and seasonings. 5: Gently roll the mixture into small meatballs. 6: Heat oil to medium and sear the meatballs in batches on each side for 1 minute until golden brown. 7: Set the seared meatballs aside. 8: In a medium size saucepan, saute the remaining onions until translucent, then add in the remaining garlic and cook until fragrant. 9: Add San Marzano tomatoes, crushing them down as needed, and add prepared pasta sauce or other seasonings. 10: Let the sauce stew together and season to your liking. 11: Add half of the pasta sauce to a skillet and then add in the seared meatballs. 12: Cover the meatballs with more sauce and heat on low for around 10 minutes. 13: Add cheese on top of the meatballs and cover with a lid until melted. 14: While cheese is melting, toast the hoagie buns with a bit of butter. 15: Add meatballs to the toasted bun along with sauce as desired.
